I hope you’re having an awesome day!
Now, this is what every Sunday should be like…
Cruising down the east coast of Spain in the western Med between Alicante and Benidorm, auto-pilot on, feet up, chilled, relaxed, life is just a dream…
This was exactly the situation when I was delivering a yacht, a nice 38ft Beneteau First, from Port Andratx in Mallorca to Cartagena in southern Spain after her owners had to leave the boat in Mallorca and head back to the UK at short notice due to a medical emergency.
So I had the pleasure of taking her down to Cartagena in September where she was going to spend the winter months.
What an awesome sprint that was. I had to push it though but made it down to Cartagena in 3 days as I needed to get back to Mallorca since it was my birthday party on the beach in Port Soller just after I got back. Not gonna lie, I was pretty chuffed that I made it back in time.
In case you’re wondering what that yellow strap is for, it’s an extremely important thing when you’re singlehanded sailing where you clip yourself to the boat. Since if you’re miles offshore out at sea and you fall off the boat, the boat is not going to turn itself around and come and get you, and I don’t think I need to explain the consequences if that happens.
Just another one of the many dangers that we singlehanded sailors face when we’re out there on our own. So it’s absolutely crucial that you are clipped in and tied to the boat at all times.
Gosh, I wish I was out there at the moment, but right now I’m spending my Sunday polishing a beautiful catamaran, it’s tough hard work but I’ve got to bring home the bacon somehow, cause this life certainly doesn’t pay for itself that’s for sure. 🙈
Howz your Sunday going? Having a good one?
I may light the fire and have a little sunset Braai and a nice ice cold biertjie when I’m done for the day! I think that’s a pretty marvellous idea, what do you reckon?
