So I had a Boat Invader whilst on anchor in Mallorca

The deck of Sailing Yacht Rose Rambler on a beautiful sunny day on anchor in Port Soller, Mallorca

It was a somewhat eventful day on Rose Rambler yesterday when some guy had a not so bright idea which was promptly met with the wrath of a raging South African.

A beautiful calm and relaxed Sunday afternoon went from a low rpm idle to 19000 rpm in 3 seconds flat yesterday.

I was quietly sitting down below in the main saloon getting on with some work when my ears perked up to the sound of a noise coming from the cockpit.

As I looked up and out the hatch, to my complete utter surprise, a guy had climbed up my ladder on the stern (back of the boat), climbed onto the boat and was sitting on the railing in the cockpit…

I literally could not believe what I was seeing.

Those who know me personally will know I’m very calm and relaxed by nature. But let’s just say it triggered something I haven’t experienced in a long time since living in South Africa, I instantly went full South African.
Fellow South Africans will know what I mean.
It’s that way above average attack mode you launch into when you discover an uninvited guest/intruder in your home who is not exactly there for tea and biscuits, but rather to do you and your family harm.

I jumped from the table, shouting at him as I launched through the hatch and went to grab my fishing baseball bat, which thankfully for him was under my diving mask which gave him the milliseconds he needed to escape and quickly swim away faster than Chad Le Clos or Michael Phelps in an Olympic swimming event.

I couldn’t stay angry for long because the sheer terror on his face as he saw me raging towards him was too funny for words which caused me quite a laugh as I stood there watching him swim away.

I’m sure he’s probably learnt his lesson that it is very much not ok to just climb onto someone’s boat, since its absolutely no different to casually walking into someone’s home completely unannounced or uninvited.

On a side note…

My bat is now a lot more easily accessible… So good luck 😂
